Sources and method
The data comes from short-term charcoal test kits that NYSDOH provides to residents through a contract laboratory; all results are entered in the state radon database. It does not include tests by private companies, so the number of tests is smaller than the number of homes tested in the county. Percent at or above 4 pCi/L = tests from 4 to 20 pCi/L plus tests at or above 20 pCi/L, divided by homes tested. Communities with few tests are left out. Data retrieved November 2026.
