Updated November 2026 · Data: New York State Department of Health radon test results (updated November 2025), EPA Map of Radon Zones · Sources and method
The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has radon results for 220 homes in Fulton County tested with state test kits. In basements, 15.3% of 170 tests were at or above the EPA action level of 4 pCi/L and the average was 2.62 pCi/L; on first floors, 4.0% of 50 tests were at or above 4 pCi/L. Statewide, 36.1% of basement tests were at or above 4 pCi/L. Fulton County is in EPA radon Zone 3 (low potential).
These are area results, not your home’s level. Homes next to each other can have very different radon levels. The only way to know yours is to test.
Radon test results in Fulton County by floor

| 1st Floor | 50 | 1.09 | 0.55 | 4.0% | 0.0% | 10.9 |
The geometric mean is less affected by a few very high readings than the simple average, so it is closer to a typical home.

Sources and method
The data comes from short-term charcoal test kits that NYSDOH provides to residents through a contract laboratory; all results are entered in the state radon database. It does not include tests by private companies, so the number of tests is smaller than the number of homes tested in the county. Percent at or above 4 pCi/L = tests from 4 to 20 pCi/L plus tests at or above 20 pCi/L, divided by homes tested. Communities with few tests are left out. Data retrieved November 2026.
